Sound is produced by every canopy and rangehood. Schweigen's challenge was simple - eliminate almost all the sound without compromising suction. Schweigen (German for silent) succeeded. Their solution was brilliant - install both the motor and the fan at the roof outlet. Its ingenious, it works. Schweigen produce both standard (motor is in the canopy) and ducted  canopies.
